For many people seeking abortion care, financing their abortion is a huge barrier. If you need help paying for your abortion, follow the steps below or call/text us as 520-235-6934. We are able to help with some of the cost of your abortion based on the total cost of your abortion and your financial need, and will work with you to figure out how much we can help with and connect you to other funding sources.
Step 1: Make an appointment at your clinic of choice for an ultrasound/consultation. Clinic info can be found here. This appointment costs $80-100 and if you need assistance with that, please ask us. Some clinics also accept some insurance plans for the consultation, so be sure to ask your clinic. At your ultrasound/consultation, the clinic will tell you how much your abortion will be based on how many weeks pregnant you are and what type of abortion you will be having. At the clinic, tell them that you need financial assistance as some clinics have their own financial assistance available.
Step 2: Call or text us at 520-235-6934, we will ask you some basic information and If we are able to offer funding, we will send it directly to the clinic.
Step 3: If you still have a remaining balance, call The Abortion Fund of Arizona at 602-327-5166. You will need to leave a message and a volunteer will return your call in 24-48 hours.
If you are Indigenous/Native American and need help paying for your abortion, contact Indigenous Women Rising to see if you qualify for additional funding.
If you are traveling out of state for your abortion, there are several other organizations that may be able to help with travel costs, and we may be able to connect you to other services in other states, so please get in touch!
Currently, state and federal laws prohibit Medicaid (AHCCCS) from paying for abortion services. Some private insurance companies may cover some services under some circumstances, so make sure to ask at the clinic.
How much does an abortion cost?
The price of an abortion depends on gestational age (how many weeks of pregnancy), type of abortion (medication or surgical) and other individual health factors. Prices are slightly different at each clinic, and many clinics list prices on their websites. In Arizona, you can expect the cost of a medication abortion to be $520-$750 (up to 10 weeks and 6 days). Surgical or in-clinic abortions start at around $620 - the price goes up weekly and can be as much as $2,400 at 23 weeks 6 days gestation.
The price of the initial ultrasound/consultation appointment is $80-$100 and is often included in the full price of an abortion.
